Keeping up with other sites that make a bit of income has taken away time I should be spending on this one. I've been needing to move around a bit and the old Toshiba laptop I had was just sold. I need something that is a bit more dependable, everytime I get a used laptop something seems to be wrong with it. No more used, I plan on purchasing something in the next month. A MacBook has caught my eye and I am wondering if I should take the plunge into a new world. There will be a short learning curve I am sure but I wonder how it will work into my day-to-day tasks. I'll need a copy of Quickbooks for it, a good office suite and Ill need to find a way to port some applications over or find comparable ones that run on the Mac. So, all of you Apple fans and Mac lovers, any advice? Be first to comment this article | Quote this article on your site |

Sony KDS-60A3000 vs Samsung HL-T6189S |

Wednesday, 30 January 2008 |
As stated in the previous, although old, post, I decided to give up in the search for the Samsung HL-T6189S and purchase the Sony KDS-60A3000. Now that I have spent some time with the KDS-60A3000 I can tell you it is, overall, a much better TV. With the HL-T6189S there is many reports of the "halo effect" that plagues a dark screen with portions of brightness. This has been reported to be fixed with a visit from a technician and a replacement ring for the light enegine but I don't think I would want my brand new television opened up to be made operationally correct. The HL-T6189S did have a slight flimsiness to the cabinet feeling like you could almost pull the facing off accidentally if you were moving it. I stand by it having a great picture, although I don't know how long it would have lasted as I have read reports of the TV failing in its first couple of months.
The Sony KDS-60A3000 has been a great performer in its first month in my home. I don't have anything to send a high-definition signal to it with. I can report that SD Direct TV looks just as good if not better on the KDS-60A3000 than it did on the Samsung HL-T6189S. DVDs pop and the 120Hz motion enhancer can give a eerie 3D effect. The picture is much more tweakable with the KDS-60A3000 over the HL-T6189S, more control over video settings and color representation can lead to a more accurate picture. The quality of build feels so much better with the KDS-60A3000, I don't feel like I am going to break the TV by just nudging it unlike the HL-T6189S.
I do have a lamp to eventually replace now but that's an easy trade-out to make with the problems HL-T6189S owners are facing. My next step is a trip to Ikea for a Leksvik stand. Then, you'll see pictures of the setup. Be first to comment this article | Quote this article on your site |
